George Trinder was a member of the Royal Scots. His pregnant wife Lena Emily and his two sons Bernard (then 7) and George (4) were evacuated from Hong Kong in July 1940. When Hong Kong fell their father was taken POW by the Japanese and was one of hundreds of POWs on the Lisbon Maru being sent to Japan when it was sunk by the USS Grouper.
